When people ask this question, I have admittedly fallen into the trap of wanting to give an answer they're looking for. But when I think about how much I've agonized over the animal suffering compared to how little I've agonized over whether or not I will still be hungry after going to a wedding (probably my biggest non-animal related vegan concern), there is no comparison. Most often I get a response along the lines of "well then why do you keep learning about it [animal exploitation]?" It's comforting that as hard as it is to successfully convey this to non-vegans it is something so well understood by those in the vegan community.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01051656756136889879noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-799660367320178164.post-70722245677263494232014-08-14T09:49:53.135-07:002014-08-14T09:49:53.135-07:00I don't believe I could have said this any bet...I don't believe I could have said this any better. I find...Thank you for saying this so well, Marla.

I find it helps me to look ahead a mere ten, fifteen, twenty years from now and recognize that things are likely to be very different. There will be so many more of us who share the knowing, which can ease the burden. And the marketplace will continue to transform, which will make it ever easier for people to scrutinize their choices, and start making new ones.

I periodically re-read Matt Ball's "One Possible Future: A Roadmap to Animal Liberation" when I need a dose of perspective and hope: http://www.veganoutreach.org/enewsletter/possiblefuture.html (Funny...as I re-read it today, the use of "vegetarian" in places, rather than "vegan," jumped out at me more this time. He wrote it six years ago, and maybe my readiness to see it say "vegan" throughout is one indication of how my surroundings have changed, how I have changed, in that span of time.)Jennifer Gnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-799660367320178164.post-23535150392497612882014-08-13T10:12:32.728-07:002014-08-13T10:12:32.728-07:00Thank you for writing this.
